This week Meteor International Theatre Festival is taking place at different venues in the city. The festival is held every second year since the year 2001 and it is promoted by Bergen International Theatre, Teatergrasjen.
The festival has a wide international program that includes different theatre styles such as performances and installations. In addition, it aims to promote an environment of discussion and creativity as well as an scenario where both Norwegian and international performing arts can increase the export of their artistic content. Sven Åge, the manager and artistic director of the festival, thinks that Meteor is a great opportunity to acquire new knowledge from the world.
– The main thing that we want to offer the audience is another way of looking at the world, he says. As the artistic director of the festival, he thinks this type of events help people to get out of their comfort zone by understanding several ways of making art.
Workshops with experts
This year the festival offers some practical workshops where anyone can join and learn about performing arts. Maret Tamme, a participant from Estonia, thinks everyone should take advantage from the festival and participate in the offered workshops in order to get to know some experts in the theatre field.
– Here you find people who are gathering for the same aim. You get to meet with the performers and ask them all the questions you have and this is great.
